Are Research In Motion to skip MWC 2013?

It seems that RIM could be missing from next month’s Mobile World Congress 2013 (MWC).

Some more research of the GSMA mobile app shows that a search of the exhibitors list for either BlackBerry, RIM or Research In Motion yields no results. Last year the BlackBerry stand was apart from the main convention floor and featured the company’s smartphone portfolio, connected car with QNX and PlayBook tablet.

If RIM are missing this year, it could be as they’ll be unveiling BlackBerry 10 a few weeks earlier on January 30th.

The absence of Blackberry 10 at MWC 2013 would definitely be disappointing.

Missing the largest annual mobile conference isn’t a good idea, especially when it would allow more analysts, bloggers and media hands on time and RIM needs every avenue of advertising and PR possible at the moment..

RIM could still be in talks with the GSMA or the list may not be fully up to date so we’ll keep an eye on this and let you know when we have more information.
