Technical glitch wipes £12.4billion off Google’s shares

Google Data Centre

Google unveiled images of its hi-tech data plants  yesterday — then saw a  technical glitch wipe £12.4billion off its shares.

Google released images of its sci-fi style offices in the US,  Finland and Belgium and hours later, results were published four hours early on Wall  Street by printers and revealed a 20 per cent  slide in quarterly profits.

A section of the results had “Pending Larry quote” — in reference to Google  boss Larry Page.

Shares in the group were suspended in the confusion after crashing nine per  cent but far more worrying for Google will be the results.  The average price paid by firms when someone clicks on their ads is down 15  per cent.
