Pivotal Payments announces PivotalMOBILE, a card reader for BlackBerry
Montreal-based Pivotal Payments has announced “PivotalMOBILE,” a card reader that you attach to your BlackBerry, iOS or Android device that allows you to accept credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard or American Express).
Pivotal works just like the others by downloading an app, then processing your payments online in real-time.
There are a couple differences to be aware of.
First, the card reader costs $74, but it’s yours to keep. Others, namely Square, offers their card reader for free.
Secondly, Pivotal takes a slightly lower percentage at 2.74%, while the standard is 2.75%.
Your transactional volume will depend on whether this reader is for you or not. For those with a large amount of transactions monthly, paying the $74 may be worth it for that 0.01% percentage difference, which can amount to a fair amount if you have a fair volume of transactions.
