Download the file that you need from the links up above. Make sure you download the correct version for your device.

Use winrar to extract the autoloader from the rar file. If you do not have winrar installed, you can download a free trial here.

[box_info]Note that this process will erase everything on your BlackBerry Z10, so back it up first if you wish to restore anything.[/box_info]

Turn off your BlackBerry Z10.

Run the file that you just extracted.

Connect your Z10 to your usb cable and quickly turn it on.

The autloader should connect to your Z10 and start the process.

Sit back, have a coffee or a tea and wait until the process is finished.

When the autoloader has written 100%, the program will terminate and the window will close.

Disconnect your BlackBerry Z10 and wait for it to reboot.

Your BlackBerry Z10 will now be in the position that it was in when you purchased it, so set it up as you normally would.

BlackBerry 10.1 Developer releases for Dev Alpha B and C and BlackBerry Z10

To tide developers over until the much awaited BlackBerry Q10 release, you’ll be seeing a new SDK OS update for your BlackBerry Dev Alpha C devices. This 10.1C SDK OS is a developer preview that allows you to check out how your apps will run on the soon-to-be-released Q10 device.

What about Dev Alpha B devices?

There is an update for that too! With this release you’ll be able to check out how your Z10 apps will run on the 10.1 OS, and make all the necessary changes, if needed.

Have you already submitted your awesome app and received your LE BlackBerry 10 device? Or have you already picked up your own BlackBerry Z10?

We certainly want to see more of your great app ideas come to life, so you’ll also be seeing a 10.1C SDK OS update for these devices as well.

Will the simulators be getting an update too?

Yes! There will be a 10.1C SDK OS build for the BlackBerry 10 simulator, so whether you test on a device or a simulator, know that you’ll be able to test on the most recent build available. You won’t see two different simulators available but you will get one simulator with the option to boot to a Z10 or Q10 resolution.

Let’s recap the updates that you’ll be seeing:

Dev Alpha C device

Dev Alpha B device

BlackBerry Z10 devices

Simulator for Z10 and Q10

So how can you get these updates for your device?

The 10.1C SDK OS will be available for each device through its own autoloader – you’ll see one each for the Dev Alpha C and the Dev Alpha B.

For developers who want to test it on their BlackBerry Z10, you’ll need to find out your device model number and grab the corresponding autoloader. The device model can be found under Settings> About.

[box_info]This SDK OS update is only for testing purposes and does not replace your full BlackBerry 10 OS. To revert your BlackBerry Z10 to a public OS release, please follow the steps outlined in this KB Article. Using BlackBerry Link, you will be able to reload your device software to a full OS and, if needed, download any OS updates from your carrier.[/box_info]

Downloads for all models can be Downloaded Here. Select your model type from the radio boxes.

[box_alert]You may attempt to load the latest Dev Alpha B update onto your Dev Alpha A, however the The Dev Alpha A is no longer officially supported as of 10.1.0.1485.[/box_alert]
Check for the update on your Z10 or a message will appear in your hub..

If you don't see it yet, give it a while and then try it again.

Update: BlackBerry has posted on the Inside BlackBerry Blog a look at some of the changes this OS brings.

3rd Party App Performance We’ve improved performance for 3rd party applications, so developers can build apps that run fast and smooth for you. With this update, you might want to keep an eye out for some fresh new app launches in March, like WhatsApp.

Phone, Calendar, and Contacts Among the top improvements and features are fixes for Gmail calendars on BlackBerry 10. You’ll also find improvements in the BlackBerry Hub for logging calls log and how conversations are handled. We’ve also made general improvements to importing contacts from online sources.

Camera We’ve optimized the camera for better photos in low-light situations. You’ll love the difference this makes for photos where you don’t use a flash – like the Time Shift Camera feature.

Browser and Media With more and more of you using the gorgeous screen on the BlackBerry Z10 to consume online videos and media, we’ve made a number of improvements to the software in the way the browser handles video playback to provide a fantastic experience.

Battery Life The software team has included a number of battery life optimizations with over 60 battery saving improvements since launch to keep you moving. These combined improvements are designed so that you see improvements in battery life and heavy users especially should see a longer average usage per charge cycle.
