Social networking site Facebook is going to let users opt out of its controversial Sponsored Stories ads as part of its resolution to a class action court case.

Earlier, Facebook agreed to pay $10 million to a charity as part of the settlement. Now, it has to inform users about their appearance in Facebook’s advertisements or any types of its sponsored content.

According to court documents, Facebook has to ensure that it must provide users the ability to “prevent individual interactions and other content from appearing in additional Sponsored Stories,” so that Facebook users can access to necessary information more easily.

Last year, five Facebook users filed a lawsuit against Facebook’s Sponsored Stories saying it was taking advantages from Facebook users’ Like without their knowledge.

A Facebook spokesperson, however, declined to comment on the issue.
