Developers finally getting telephony and the hub on the Dev Alpha on January 30
With the BlackBerry 10 launch event just days away, RIM are making an update available for the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha A and B testing devices.
On January 30th they’ll be providing an updated version of the BlackBerry 10 SDK and OS for the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha A and B testing devices.
This SDK and OS upgrade will be delivered in the same manner as the previous target OS version, as an available target OS update in the Momentics IDE and as an OS upgrade for your BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha testing device.
Just like the previous target OS update, this one brings simply a newer version of the BlackBerry 10 SDK OS but, as expected, this update will include the BlackBerry Hub, phone, and BlackBerry Maps applications.
RIM have stated for a while that withholding these was down to it being a balance between providing developers what they needed and keeping some things back for the launch.
I would expect the release to be made available sometime after the launch and that would explain why we are finally getting these much required apps, especially the hub and the telephony.
So for those developers still with devices, this gives us another reason to look forward to January 30 – and we thought it couldn’t get any better.

Not before time. They should have had this out to devs well before now.
Yes I am getting the limited device but that will take 6-8 weeks after launch. Now I will be able to play with full or close to full on the dev alpha
Good news. But aren’t you getting the Limited Edition Dev device?
that makes me happy
