BlackBerry World becomes official as AppWorld says goodbye

As we get closer to the launch of BlackBerry 10 on the 30th, things are beginning to change.

We’ve known for some time that BlackBerry AppWorld would be changing it’s name to BlackBerry World and today that change became official.

The url hasn’t change and can still be found at http://appworld.blackberry.com.

The change will happen on the web storefront first and will be rolled out to the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and BlackBerry smartphones in the coming weeks.

The name change makes sense as BlackBerry World no longer just contains apps and games but users will be able to purchase music and video from the store as well.

Another benefit, is that it will kill any legal arguments that Apple may have been thinking about regarding the name AppWorld.

If you can’t see BlackBerry World, don’t panic as the changes may take 24 hours to propogate in some areas.
