Last night, hundreds of industry insiders gathered in London to witness the Mobile Choice Awards 2012, where the very best smartphones, tablets, retailers and networks were announced.

The shortlists were shaped by the votes of over 26,500 smartphone fans and the final winners selected by the Mobile Choice team and technology journalists from specialist and national press (except for the network awards, which were 100% voted for by readers).

Disappointingly, RIM didn’t win any thing but did come third in both the ‘Best Design’ and ‘Best Handset for Social Networking’.

Considering the fact that RIM is totally focused on the upcoming BlackBerry 10, thats not too bad.
